Spider-Man: Audience Repellant?

When I first heard there was going to be a musical based on Spider-Man, I thought that it sounded like a bad idea.  Do we really need to introduce the Hollywood-style blockbuster business model to Broadway?  And then I found out that the music was being written by Bondo and the Edge from U2.  I admit I like a few of their songs – ok, I lied, they suck.  But Broadway songs suck too, so it could work.  Serendipity!

Anyway, the opening of the much awaited Spider Man musical has been pushed back.  Certainly a show of this complexity and cost is going to have teething problems.  But I can’t help but notice (because the article pointed it out) that this puts the previews of the show after Turkish Day, and the actual opening after Christmas, which is surely gonna cost them a big chunk of cash.  This is a huge sign of trouble.

At any rate, if this doesn’t succeed, Norr and I will have to give up our dreams of seeing our musical Anarchy Beast: The Defenestration of Pooh on Broadway.
